Thought of the Day: Fall babies.

Jim and I had recently made the acquaintance of Don. I had not yet herped with him so we spoke and set this day as our first day out. We just took some time after work to get out quick. The first thing we noticed was there were a lot of babies out. Garter Snakes and Brown Snakes mostly. Along with adults and sub-adults. Things were starting to congregate. We hoped to get a Bullsnake this day and, in a spot that at least 2 other young were found yet another one was added to the list. We found a young Bullsnake (Pituophis c. sayi) about twelve and a half inches long.

It was nice to find a lot, but this was the highlight of the day. We took some pics and got some pics of each other with our prize. On the way back we found a nice size Brown Snake (Storeria dekayi) that I got some pics of.

It was great to get out with Don and it was the last trip for me of 2006. Here's to 2007!!

Until next time - Happy Herpin' my friends!!
