Account and Photos by: Matt Ricklefs

For the first round of warm weather here around Iowa, I ended up with respiratory flu. Not fun. My first outing was Mexico and finally I was out in Iowa. It was after work so I had a few hours to nose around. I was glad to find my first Bullsnake (Pituophis c. sayi) of the year.

This was was a medium sized one about four and a half feet long. Nosing around a little more I did find a couple of Brown Snakes (Stoeria dekayi).

The first shot of each snake is in situ. That was it. Short day, OK finds and I was glad to be out!!

Until next time -

Happy Herpin' my friends!!
