We needed to harvest some tin for a survey project our friend, Jeff LeClere. Our good friend Danny Halligan, was nice enough to let us have some he had on the roof of an old outbuilding.

While we were finishing loading up the tin, Danny came driving back down the road to where we were. He got out of the truck with a small container, which upon inspection held a small snake he had picked up along the gravel road. It was a Brown Snake (Storeria dekayi) out and about on the road that day.

It was an adult about 10 inches. Jim and Danny had noted that at the better times in spring and fall they would see snakes on the road but it was interesting this one was out so late.

Looks like the last herp of the year…or is it????
