Laura and I worked all day in the yard and at the last second decided to run out for a quick herping trip to end the day. It was a race against darkness because it was really getting late. The sun was beginning to set at we rolled up to a bullsnake location that has a few pieces cover to turn. The first thing we turned held a young adult Fox Snake (Elape vulpina).
It was about two and a half feet long and was in shed. It is weird how many two and a half foot in shed fox snakes I have seen this spring. With darkness coming quickly we didn't have time to take nice pics of it, so we just grabbed a quick shot and let it slip back under the cover to hide await it's shed.
That was it. At least we didn't get skunked!!
