Stopped at a local sand prairie where Don Becker has been doing some work cutting sumac and cedar trees. He has also turned up a number of bullsnakes and hognose snakes at the site.
I had a hognose snake curse for many years. I broke it a couple of years ago during a trip to Minnesota, though I still don't see a lot of them. There are some people that think my curse is still in effect, and I was almost beginning to believe it as well, with all the hogs Don has seen this year and me only getting the two westerns earlier this year.
Anyway, I found an Eastern Hognose (Heterodon platyrhinos) today.
It was a beautiful adult, and it even posed nicely for me.
Take that, curse.
