Well yesterday Don worked the Big Sand Mound project alone, got a western hognose and then came back to Linn County and got an eastern in the same day. Today I worked the project alone and got another western hognose, so it was my turn to try to get both hog species in one day in Iowa.
Maybe its kinda childish, but I'm putting in the work so I'm going to reap the rewards.
Since this would be back to back days at the same location, I wanted to do something different. I shot a ten and a half minute long video of the entire trip, each cover object flip, hit or miss. The only thing I cut out was the drive time and the long walks to the cover object lines. The short cutouts in the video are from stopping filming to shoot a voucher photo on my phone.
I posted this photo because it has the black Bullsnake (Pituophis catenifer sayi) that we saw the day before. I wanted to have a photo of it on herpjournal so I can go back and look at it if I ever see a similar one again.
I'm not going to be doing a video post often, it was just something to change it up. Hope you liked it.
